| The key terms for the productive activities of the future Due to the increasing requirements of authorities, retailers and consumers the industry has to lead the way be being socially responsible. CSR will be one of the key words in the productive activities of the future. In order to meet these requirements, companies will have to invest in manufacturing equipment that consumes less energy and will thus contribute to limiting green house gas emissions. At the same time they need to focus on hygiene, the costs here being time, chemistry and water. We focus more on less waste in the chain of value In a time of scarcity of resources and alternative use of primary products, focusing on reducing waste in the value chain applies to the food processing industry in particular. In the United Kingdom, one third of all foodstuffs are discarded. In the developing countries this figure is as high as 50%. This enormous waste can be limited in part by a supply of goods adapted to the consumer, in both shape and content, less resource-intensive packaging, faster and safer transportation, as well as appropriate storage. However, recycling of food waste, development of bio-packaging, as well as GMO research and the use of nanotechnology are high on the agenda. In the context of "Energy & Environment" a seminar on the reduction of CO2 emissions in the foodstuff and pharmaceutical industries will be held. |
